The way a vehicle is towed matters as much as getting it there. The wrong method can damage a transmission, scrape a bumper or bend a frame. Here’s how we choose the right truck for every call in Ajax and Durham Region.
When we use a flatbed
A flatbed carries the whole vehicle with all four wheels off the road. It’s the safest choice for:
- All-wheel and four-wheel drive vehicles, which can be damaged if towed with two wheels down.
- Electric and hybrid cars, loaded in the mode the manufacturer recommends.
- Lowered, luxury and exotic cars that need a low loading angle.
- Damaged cars that can’t roll after a collision.
- Longer trips, including long-distance towing across Ontario.
When a wheel-lift makes sense
A wheel-lift raises one end of the vehicle by the wheels. It’s quick and works well for short tows of front- or rear-wheel-drive cars, and in tight spots like narrow driveways and small parking lots where a long flatbed can’t fit.
When we bring something bigger
Box trucks, cube vans and RVs need a medium-duty truck. Tractor-trailers, dump trucks and buses need a heavy-duty wrecker with the capacity to lift and tow safely.
How we secure your vehicle
Whatever the truck, the driver checks the vehicle before loading, uses proper straps on safe points and double-checks everything before driving away. Motorcycles get a wheel chock and soft tie-downs.
